Trevor is a professionally qualified Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager with over 30 years’ experience. Over 20 of those years have been spent specifically in the Student Accommodation sector.
Prior to the formation of Campus Project Solutions, Trevor was Regional Projects Director at UNITE Group Plc, where he gained that mass of focussed experience. During this time the company’s portfolio increased from c.100 to over 38,000 beds and the Group went from a start up company to a full listing in the FTSE250. Trevor was responsible for getting c.20,000 of those bedrooms built. Assembling project teams, providing the relevant build costs and build-ability information for the development appraisal, and ultimately procuring and administering the build contract within those appraised parameters (cost/programme/health and safety performance/quality). Also responsible for introducing and incorporating numerous innovations in the fields of partnering/procurement, offsite fabrication, materials and methods.
This experience of multi-project management allows Trevor to focus on major programmes of investment or individual projects equally adeptly. Mike is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 35 years’ construction and property experience in the UK and overseas, over 15 of which have been spent specialising in the student accommodation sector.
Responsible for undertaking initial feasibility studies, advising on due diligence matters informing the bid process and providing reliable, robust construction cost estimates to our client base – Mike is prominent in the acquisition decision making process. He delivers procurement strategies, and negotiates build contract prices and contract terms primarily on a design and build basis throughout the UK.
Mike has substantial experience in managing and monitoring project teams through design and construction phases up to completion and delivery to ensure financial, quality, programme and operational targets are met.
An extensive and impressive construction cost background ensures that he is well placed to undertake and provide reliable build cost studies for developers and investors. Recognising expansion and the introduction of new entrants into the student accommodation sector, Mike can also provide the commercial edge and a sense check to underpin feasibility studies undertaken by others less experienced in a changing market. Mike’s continued involvement in design development and engagement during contract negotiations increases the deliverability of project inception expectations and commitments at the later contract stages.
Before joining Campus Project Solutions, Mike was providing commercial advice to a newly formed London based student accommodation provider targeting a pipeline of 2,000 new beds in 2010/2011. Prior to that Mike was Regional Quantity Surveyor and Bid Manager at UNITE Group Plc, responsible for providing technical and costing support during the acquisition process converting concept proposals to live projects on site.
